Music Mountain is excited to announce its partnership with the Catskill Jazz Factory for a series of five Saturday evening concerts starting July 16th. The first concert of the series will feature the incredible singer Joanna Wallfisch in her debut retrospective calling on Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Judee Sill and beyond. This concert, as well as the next four, are events you certainly will not want to miss.
Joanna Wallfisch was born in London to a family of musicians, which inspired her love for music. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Central Saint Martins College, London and Ecole Superieur des Beaux Arts, Paris and a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama. While in school, she released her debut album Wild Swan, featuring jazz stars Rob Garcia, Joe Martin, Art Hirahara and Sam Newsome. Throughout her career, she has toured with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and has brought her music all over the world to Europe, Australia, Japan, and many places in the U.S. Not only passionate for performance, she is an avid educator. Particularly interested in early music education, she has traveled to Mumbai to direct a choir of children through the generous charity, Songbound.
At Music Mountain, Joanna Wallfisch will explore the American Songstresses of the 60s, bringing her own spin to these classic songs. For tickets, please call (860) 824-7126 or visit musicmountain.org. Stay tuned for more updates on our concert series with The Catskill Jazz Factory!
